Launch of knowledge sharing hub to support UK farmers
Trinity Global Farm Pioneers (Trinity GFP) has launched a new online knowledge hub for farmers and landowners, Luca, which will bring cutting-edge scientific research on natural capital and practical farm implementation advice together for the first time.
Available to all farmers across all sectors, free of charge, Luca not only translates complex scientific data into accessible, easy to digest formats, but it also allows users to interact with subject matter experts and other like-minded individuals who are adopting similar practices on-farm. Luca’s first content series will be focused on agroforestry. Dr Emily Pope, Director of Knowledge Exchange at Trinity Global Farm Pioneers, explains:
“Farmers can use Luca to access latest insights as well as compare and contrast their farming practices and ideas, which will speed up knowledge development and support farmers in building farm resilience quickly and efficiently.
“We will regularly be releasing new information and practical insights which can be implemented as needed,”
“We’ve chosen agroforestry as the first release, as it’s applicable to all farms, whether you’re running an arable or a livestock system. Agroforestry also impacts multiple aspects of natural capital, including biodiversity, water protection and carbon.”
Trinity Global Farm Pioneers is a new generation digital platform for engagement, collaboration and innovation and Dr Pope highlights one unique aspect of the platform is its caravel functionality, which brings together like-minded farmers into focused communities, called Caravels, to network, share ideas and learn from one another.

“Caravels are specific topical groups, such as agroforestry. Within the caravel, members can read and interact with articles as well as with other individuals who are interested in that subject matter,” says Dr Pope.
Each caravel has a live feed where users can share their thoughts, experiences, news and other updates. It allows individuals to connect with one another based on interests, similar farm enterprises and geographic locations.
“Navigating your way through the whole host of information already existing on natural capital can be time consuming and difficult. The articles on Luca will translate the latest science, so that everyone, whether you’re a farmer, landowner or manager, can use the information to make practical changes and base future decisions on,” Dr Pope advises.
